Sitcom Episode ~ The Snow Circle of Lights

I am currently stuck in a sitcom...well an episode in one anyway (you know the one on Everybody Love Raymond ~ where Ray goes on a trip and upon return leaves his suitcase on the steps)...it all started before Christmas...yes you heard me right (I know it's the day after St. Patty's Day, but yesterday was our 10 year anniversary so I chose to wait to share the story, as if I didn't wait long enough already....) Anyway.....the Big Guy takes care of the outside (lights, blow ups, whatever it is he does out there) and I take care of the inside.

With the extreme snow and freezing weather the past few months, we had the outside Christmas decor up WAAAAAAY past the due date.  Neighborhood fodder has it that local children were going to decorate the snowman for Valentines and so I took it upon myself one frigid day (minus all the snow) to take down as much as I could.

I thought this would  spur the big guy to finish the task......apparently not.  This is not to say that he didn't do anything, MOST everything is gone...except for this sad circle of .....not sure what this is from....looks like lights....from inside a blow up maybe?  Not sure....

Every day the at least 1 of the kids ask about the snow circle of lights .....they want to know what they are and why they are there....I say what any mother would....not sure Hon, go ask your father.....and yet by the time they walk the 30 feet from the pile to the door...they forget...and like Groundhog Day.....it all starts over again the next day.  BTW I find their lack of memory fascinating........or should I say selective memory......when I inadvertently say (to myself under my breath) on Monday that we *might* go get ice cream on Thursday afternoon, they are amazingly accurate as to who said what, when...down to the smallest detail....

I digress, for my part, I have yet to ask the Big Guy about the snow circle of lights.  Part of me thinks I could say something, acknowledge that we both know that it's there and request a final due date for removal......but where's the fun?  Where's the mystery?  Isn't that one of the reasons I married this guy in the first place...for the excitement?  The mystery?  I'm questioning if this is it or not...b/c with 4 kids...the only other mysteries we have here are "who broke the ....." and "Where are the car keys"....both of which can be answered 1,000 different ways.

And here I wait......wondering if he will ever pick them up and put them away....wondering if I should start counting the days they remain.....Maybe I should consider re-decorating that area for Easter....take the kids holiday pics there.....make it the centerpiece of our photo spreads....the possibilities are ENDLESS.....

*UPDATE ~ I wrote this as the Big Guy was picking up the Little Guy from school.  I was at the front door when they got back...neither looked at, picked up or acknowledged the snow circle of lights even thou they walked right past it....
